WHAT IS SEAL?

The Sea Scouting website states – “The SEAL training program is designed to teach leadership skills while underway.  SEAL is designed to “jump start” the junior leaders of new Ships and to fine tune leaders of experienced Ships.  It is a demanding and remarkably rewarding hands-on leadership experience.  New and experienced Sea Scouts will succeed at SEAL so long as they are willing to learn and work hard at preparation.”  Get the “inside information” from Cassie Johnson and select Sea Scouts.

LIVE PHILMONT SCOUT RANCH

An in-depth look at the opportunities available at the crown jewel of BSA’s national high adventure bases. Find out why so many call it Heave On Earth and what is IWTGBTP!  This session is being conducted live by Philmont staff that will be in New Mexico.

I AM AN ORDEAL MEMBER-NOW WHAT?

You were found worthy by the members of your unit.  You have taken your first step.  Find out what’s out there in the OA before you are just a sash & dash!

CANOEING WITH THE NORTHERN TIER

10:00 – 10:45AM

There is no better place to learn canoeing tips & tricks than from the Northern Tier staff.  In the summer, Scouts from Northern Tier’s three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba.  This session is live from Boundary Waters at the Northern Tier.

Find out how you can ‘Face the Challenge’ with 25,000 Scouts and 5,000 volunteers at the Boy Scouts of America’s next quadrennial National Scout Jamboree.

ESCAPE ROOM

You and your crew are on a backpacking trip when out of nowhere a thunderstorm rolls up…. Can you escape this scenario?  This event is limited to 10 participants between 14 & 20 years of age.  Sign up and we will email you the link the day before.

LANDSHIP

Have you ever wondered what a landship is and how do you build one?  Here is your chance to find out.

THE NATIONAL BOATSWAIN-ELECT

11:00 – 11:45AM

Meet Aven Alexander, the National Boatswain-Elect, and hear her journey through Sea Scouting.  If you are not a Sea Scout, it’s a great way to learn how to pronounce boatswain and find out what that cord is around the Sea Scout’s neck.

LIVE FROM THE FLORIDA SEA BASE

The BSA’s very own island getaway.  The Florida Sea Base offers a wide range of aquatic adventures and is leading the way in some incredible restoration projects just offshore.  This session is being conducted live by Sea Base staff that will be in the Florida Keys.

LIVE FROM THE SUMMIT BECHTEL RESERVE

The newest of the BSA’s high adventure bases and the home of the National Scout Jamboree, the Summit now offers treks and a variety of other adventures.  This session is being conducted live by Summit staff that will be in West Virginia.

MARINE STEM & CORAL RESTORATION

Have you always dreamed of being a marine biologist, ocenographer, conservationist, or a deep-sea explorer?  This is the session for you.  Live from Florida Sea Base you will hear about their Marine STEM program, the Brinton Environmental Center, and the MOTE Marine Laboratory.

INTERNATIONAL SCOUTING ACTIVITIES & MORE

2019 saw the World Scout Jamboree on American soil once again.  What’s next?  Hear from arguably the youngest Council International Representative on what adventures await you, along with a Vice-Chairperson of the World Scout Committee.

LIVE FROM THE NORTHERN TIER

Follow in the footsteps of 18th century fur traders as you paddle the pristine Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota and Canada.  This session is being conducted live by Northern Tier staff that will be in Minnesota and Canada.

VENTURING/SEA SCOUTING & THE OA

Who would be better to lead this session than Andrea Penrose?  She has been a Regional VOA Vice President and she is the first female Order of the Arrow Section Chief.  You won’t want to miss this session.

INTRO TO LEADERSHIP 

3:00 – 3:45PM

An introduction into techniques useful for leaders in any organization or unit.  Topics include how to run a meeting, tips on public speaking, delegation, and time management.  A Q&A will be held near the end, where participants will be encouraged to inquire about event planning, leadership skills, or any questions on topics covered during the session.

Test your knowledge of the Knots & Ropes, Sea Scouting, a Mariner’s quiz and other topics!
